Our Mission and Distinctives
Our Mission and Purpose
The mission of Bible Baptist Church of Thessaloniki is threefold, reflecting the Great Commission given by our Lord Jesus Christ:
Worship
We gather to glorify God through biblical preaching, prayer, congregational singing, and the observance of the ordinances of baptism and the Lord’s Supper. Our worship is centered on God’s Word and directed toward the praise of His name.
Edification
We are committed to the spiritual growth of believers through systematic Bible teaching, discipleship, fellowship, and mutual encouragement. We believe every Christian should be equipped to serve the Lord and grounded in sound doctrine.
Evangelism
We actively proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ to the lost, both in Thessaloniki and beyond. Following Paul’s example in this very city, we believe the gospel is “the power of God unto salvation” and we are compelled to share it with all who will hear.
Our Distinctive Principles
As a Bible Baptist church, we hold firmly to several distinctive principles that guide our ministry:
The Authority of Scripture
We believe the Bible is the inspired, inerrant, infallible Word of God—our final authority in all matters of faith and practice.
Salvation by Grace Through Faith
We proclaim that salvation is a free gift of God’s grace, received through personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. It cannot be earned by works, religious rituals, or church membership. Once saved, believers are eternally secure in Christ.
Believer’s Baptism by Immersion
We practice baptism by immersion of believers only, as a public testimony of faith in Christ and identification with His death, burial, and resurrection.
The Autonomy of the Local Church
We believe each local church is independent and self-governing under the lordship of Christ. We recognize no ecclesiastical hierarchy or denominational control, and we cooperate with other Bible-believing churches while maintaining our local autonomy.
Separation from the World
We practice biblical separation from worldliness and religious apostasy, seeking to live holy lives that honor Christ and reflect His character to a watching world.
Walking in Paul’s Footsteps
Thessaloniki is more than just our location—it is a reminder of our calling. As we gather for worship near the sites where Paul preached, we are inspired by the faithfulness of first-century believers and challenged to demonstrate the same courage and conviction. The ancient Via Egnatia, which once brought Paul to Thessaloniki, now brings believers from around the world to this vibrant city.
Just as the Thessalonian church became a testimony throughout Macedonia, we desire to be a lighthouse of biblical truth in modern Thessaloniki—a place where the gospel is clearly proclaimed, where believers are strengthened in the faith, and where Christ is exalted as Lord and Savior.
